SG-1 writers, producers, actively engaging audience

SG-1's writers and staff are creating a new series called "Sanctuary", which will be released only online, so that the creative team can "filled the void left by television" and communicate directly with the audience - see article here.

Television has left a void?...In what way? Maybe they mean that fans can't actually deal directly with producers the way tv's set up right now...But still, that's a prooty cool move on their part. I wonder if you'll have to pay to watch. You wouldn't think so, although people do have to subscribe to things like the Space station...hmmm.
